BREAKING NEWS RE: LIL SCRAPPIN MAMA

I am afraid that I have distressing news...It is with great regret that due to a recent tragedy in Krisitie's family the Lil Scrappin Mama kit club has been put on hold indefinitely. By request and for the privacy of the family, I am not at liberty to disclose what has happened.

We appreciate everyone's interest in the club and hope to be back sometime in the near future...we hope you all will rejoin us upon our return.

Sincerely,
Paula Randolph

RECIPE TIME

Happy Thursday all!! B HERE! haha No, I am not drinking on the job! It's a short week for me and today is my "Thursday"! How about you guys? Are you ready for the holidays?

On Sunday, I tried out a new homemade potato soup. OH. MY. GOSH. It was sooo good! I wanted to share the recipe with you. This would be so good this weekend on one of those lazy, relaxing days.

Baked Potato Soup
  • 4 large baking potatoes

  • ¾ tsp. salt

  • 2/3 cup butter or marg.

  • ½ tsp. pepper

  • 2/3 cup flour

  • 4 green onions, chopped

  • 6 cups milk 12 slices bacon, cooked & crumbled

  • 1 ¼ cups (5 oz) shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 8-oz. carton sour cream

  • 1 heaping TBS chicken base (bouillon)

Wash potatoes & bake, 400° until done. Let cool. Cut into ½” cubes – leaving skin on. Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute – stirring constantly. Gradually add milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture is thick and bubbly. Add potato cubes, salt, pepper, green onions, crumbled bacon, cheddar cheese, and chicken base. Cook until thoroughly heated. Stir in sour cream. Add extra milk if necessary for desired thickness. Garnish with additional bacon and cheese.

And of course a photo of the finished product! :D

Let me know if you give this a go!

Do you have any fave recipes you would like to share? Leave a comment and it may be posted on the blog!

Happy Thanksgiving week all!

TU-TU-TUTORIAL!

Hello my beautiful scrapbookers!! B here to show you a very easy and fun mini album I made from the November kit.

**Click on any of the photos below to view them larger**

Let's show the mini album first, shall we?
I loved this kit soooooo much!! Look at all the yummy papers and flowers! I used one of Bella Blvd star stickers to put in the big button that came in the kit.
You can see how the colors and the embellishments would be perfect for scrapping your kiddos, especially boys...but, I think I have shown how versatile it really can be! This is a bunch of us girls having fun at a scrapbook convention in TN during this summer.
Did some painting on the left side.
I added sewed two of the felt flowers together and added one of the bingo numbers as its center.
The black polka ribbon is the only thing I used not in the kit. It was just a strip left over from Halloween that I wanted to use up.
Yes, that is my friend and I pretending to sniff our cement glue. Only, I accidently did it...not fun! Why do people sniff glue? lol

These two pages (the center) are my favorite!
Journaling: Friends don't leave friends alone with their thickers. Oh yeah, another one of our friends went outside for a while. We violated her thickers! haha
All I did for this easy misting technique was flip some of my Bella Blvd stickers (journaling spots) over. (place a small piece of adhesive on the fronts to hold down the stickers) and spray the backside of them. Then, you can still use them.
Then, I used a black Glaze pen and a white Souffle pen to messily outline the misting!

On the right page, I laid out all my little chipboard letters and misted over them. Not only did it make a fun misted page, but it put color on my letters. :D Two birds, one stone, people.

I am waiting on just a few more photos from Snapfish to finish up the last couple of pages.

Here's how I did it.
1 Cut your kit paper down to 6x12" strips. (I had a total of 4 strips or 8 pages in my album, but you will need a couple of extra solid, colored cardstock to cover the white backs of some of the printed paper)
look at all that yummy printed paper!
2. tape together any sides that have a back white to another patterned paper or (how I have done) to colored cardstock.

3. optional:distress your edges

4. Fold each strip and using a bone folder (lost mine, but have a new one ordered and on the way!) to create hard creases in your folds. I used the wooden end of my sponge brush.

5. Put all your pages together in the order you want them. After I figured out what page I wanted as the cover and back. I cut about 1-1.5" more off, long ways. See how the second page is now peeping out. (*make sure to center the more narrow cover, so there is a strip of second page showing along the top and bottom) Make two hole punches along the crease
6. Insert some rings and you are ready to start adding all the fun stuff and photos!

Here is how I created that glittery crepe flower on the cover!
**Crepe Flower Tutorial**
1. You will only need about 14" of the crepe paper that comes in the kit.
2. Apply glue/glitter along one edge and let dry fully.

3. Sew a running stitch all the way down the other, non-glittered edge.
4. Pull both ends of the strings together, gathering up your crepe into a flower!
Now, put your needle up!!!!! (yes, from experience: foot + needle = pain!)

I hope you guys have enjoyed this, I know I sure have! If you try any of the above, please link us up...we would love to see your creations!

Happy Creating!
